CAN'T SEE THE WOOD FROM THE TREES

2009 collection

My work is inspired by the isolation of the winter landscape. By capturing these scenes through photography, I aim to replicate the fragile and brittle quality that has become dominate in my work. I work directly with the raw images, searching for the details hidden within, before translating these concealed elements onto metal through saw piercing and the process of etching. Rather than be intimidated by the preciousness of the materials, I welcome the addition of accidental marks. By manipulating the metal as much as possible by hand, I aim to observe every stage of the transformation of my jewellery.
